I was recently reminded of a lyric written by the awesome John Lennon. Lennon wrote, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” How terribly true this is for most people. It makes us sound impotent to be the creators of our own reality. It makes us sound as if life is so random, and we have no control over it. You’ve probably heard people say, “Oh, I wish I hadn’t done that. Oh, I’m so worried about what will happen.” That’s regret from the past, and all the “gotta, gotta” regarding the future.
What I believe is that most people live their lives as memories of the past and projections of the future, without remembering that the “here and now” is the only moment that exists. It is the only moment we can change anything. Launching off from there, I would add that we are the architects of our reality.
