A Jesuit Maxim

There is a Jesuit maxim that states, “Give me a child for his first seven years and I’ll give you the man.”

It seems the Jesuits were keenly aware that a child was very malleable until the age of 7. It is unsettling to think that young people could be so easily manipulated particularly when a theta trance state is induced. I’m not suggesting there was evil intent by the Jesuits,  but rather a hypnotic state was accelerated through multiple ways such as voice tone, music, and repetition of phrases.  Therefore, the Jesuits were able to ‘slide in’ church dogma into the young, subconscious mind. Once it was programmed, the info would inevitably influence 95% of that child’s behavior for the rest of his or her life whether negative or positive.

Many of us, except the few who miraculously escaped some heavy duty negative programming, had beliefs of parents/ guardians/ relatives/religious leaders downloaded into our subconscious minds when we were children. I’m not accusing your family of poisoning your mind, of course. They probably did the best they could with the beliefs, and programming they inherited through generations. Again, per the Jesuit Order, a child’s perceptions of the world is directly downloaded into the subconscious during the first 6-7 years of life.

A child’s mind has no filters of the analytical self-conscious mind because it is not fully operational during these formative years. Thus, perceptions about life are learned without having the ability to choose or reflect on those beliefs.   “Since, as said,  the subconscious mind controls about 95% of our behavior this raises serious questions about our mental health and what/how we are acting out or repressing,

There are many resources to help you with negative beliefs that you are acting on without conscious knowledge. Some of them I’ve mentioned in previous blogs. There is no one resource that works for everyone but I am going to suggest one that was highly recommended by author, behavioral scientist, and well-known human potential speaker, Bruce Lipton, Ph.D.  In his book, “The Biology of Belief,” which has been a New York Times best seller, he suggests a very potent energy psychology technique called PSYCH-K.  He claims he has been using it for years and attributes his great success to it. He claims it can change long-standing limiting beliefs in minutes. The technique uses the mind-body interface of muscle-testing (Kineseology) to access self-limiting beliefs and those self-sabotaging files we have unknowingly down-loaded. It also makes use of left-brain, right-brain integration to effect swift and long lasting change leading to a balanced brain wave pattern.

Here is an affirmation I do from time to time and if it comes from the heart, I do believe is very powerful. You can find that affirmation and many more high frequency thoughts/affirmations in Joe Vitale’s book entitled, At Zero. See previous blog.  He tells how/why to use the ancient Hawaiian technique for clearing subconscious programming called Ho’oponopono.

“I ask for forgiveness of any wrong doing consciously or unconsciously from the past to the present in myself and my ancestors; to them and their predecessors, all the way back to the beginning of time and micro-biotic life.”

Willpower-Is it all it’s cracked up to be?

I was speaking with a woman today who, in the course of our conversation, told me she was very frustrated by utilizing some methods she had learnt online concerning using the Law of Attraction for manifestation.  She was speaking to the right person although at the time she didn’t realize it.

I asked her what she was doing and apart from visualization and using affirmations, she was, “showing up.” Okay, I thought, those are all good starts. Apparently, she had her financial situation in order but it was the relationship factor where she was blocked according to her.  She was trying with all her might to find an appropriate partner by joining clubs, volunteering as an usher at the theatre and learning to play golf!  She spent so much of her energy in trying to find the right guy that I was exhausted after hearing about her doomed attempts.

One of the many programs we downloaded when we were young was that willpower was admirable. However, as we know, sheer determination sometimes just doesn’t cut it.

The futility of doing battle with the subconscious is a hard message to get across. We try over and over again to override the subconscious programs when things aren’t working and we find varying degrees of resistance.  Sadly, we are at a distinct disadvantage because, according to Bruce Lipton, Ph.D in his book entitled, The Biology of Belief, “our cells are obligated to adhere to the subconscious program. Tensions between conscious willpower and subconscious programs can result in neurological disorder.”

I didn’t mention the last bit of information to the woman because I preferred to give her some hope. What I did tell her was about the new modalities that reprogram previously learned behaviors and which are sometimes referred to under the umbrella of  energy psychology. Some of the better ones include Emotional Freedom Techniques, The Sedona Method, and the ancient Hawaiian modality I wrote about last week, called Ho’oponopono. Neuroplasticity

I was listening to a audio lecture by Mark Waldman, international author, speaker, and one of the pioneers in the relatively new and fascinating field of Neuroplasticity. He titled this lecture “NeuroWisdom”, and I’d like to impart some of the valuable information he offered in this blog. There’ll be lots more to come in future blogs.

Mr. Waldman tells us that we have 80 billion neurons in our brain that are constantly building axons. Each neuron is a separate entity with a consciousness of its own. He suggests ways we can change how we think and react to life which can radically alter our lives for the better. “There’s no reason to be life’s victim”, he says, but rather we can take total control and design a remarkable future so we don’t have to default to old patterns, fears, and self-sabotage.

Okay, I’ve written on this subject before, and mentioned other leaders in the field of neuro-plasticity such as Dr. Robert Anthony, Dr. Joe Vitale, John Assaraf, Dr. Amen, and Bruce Lipton. These people seem to be on the same page in their knowledge and expertise. They teach people to have much more control of their lives using specific techniques which are quite easy to do and are extremely effective based on anecdotal and scientific studies done at leading universities such as Harvard and Duke.

In this particular lecture, Mr. Waldman tells us every time we come up with a negative thought, a worry, or a doubt, or all we have to do is hear the latest news, that if a brain scan was done, you’d see axons activated in the right frontal lobe. It is proven that stress chemicals are released, which damage that part of the brain and prevent us from thinking clearly. Thus we can go into the flight or fright response. Even if these fears are imaginary, it is still damaging because the rest of the brain cannot differentiate between what is reality and what is fantasy. It deals with all thoughts as if they were sensations coming in from an environmental or emotional threat and reacts to them.

Mr. Waldman tells us a secret. You CAN’T focus on a positive and negative thought at the same time. It’s either one or the other. That being the case, if you want to create new neural pathways, de-stress, and give yourself the chance to focus and use your intuition to solve problems, you can do this technique in minutes.

TECHNIQUE:

Find a word that has deep value in your life. As suggestions, you might try, LOVE, STRENGTH, COURAGE, or COMPASSION. Keep repeating the word over and over while you’re doing something you consider pleasurable. That might be as simple as a walk, shopping, looking at art, taking a relaxing shower or eating your favorite comfort food. This activity activates the right frontal lobe of the brain. Any negative thoughts going on will immediately decrease. Not only that, but you become more optimistic about a particular situation that has troubled you. Your decision making ability in the left frontal lobe begins to increase and you become more intuitive. Seems like a simple thing to do for great results!

You need to be vigilant about identifying negative thoughts, and act on them immediately for best results. Doing this technique when negative thoughts pop up, will make a huge difference in your life. Our choice is to either focus on a worrisome idea, or shift and train ourselves to be deliberately optimistic and change our brain chemistry.
